Amazon associates and other employees working in our operations network are playing a critical role in the current COVID-19 crisis. From processing orders in our fulfillment centers to delivering an order to a customer’s doorstep, or one of the many roles in between, each of them are doing a vital job to ensure that we keep serving our customers in this unprecedented time.

Therefore, nothing is more important to us than making sure that we protect the health of our teams, and we are committed to continue making changes in our processes at sites and implement stringent safety measures as we learn more. We have shared details on how we are prioritizing health and safety of our associates and delivery partners earlier on our blog. And here is a roundup of some of the actions we are taking to ensure health and safety of our employees.

Amazon Fulfillment Network During COVID-19, India

We have made reusable masks available to all our associates and delivery partners. We recommend all our associates wear re-usable facemask covering their nose and mouth from arrival through departure of their shifts at our sites, and also when they are out on the road during deliveries.

In an effort to keep safe and maintain social distancing, everyone is supposed to maintain a 6 ft. distance between each other even when in a queue.

Associates and managers routinely sanitize their hands and are encouraged to take frequent hand-washing breaks.

To support social distancing guidelines we have staggered break times, so cafeterias and break rooms have to accommodate fewer people at the cafeteria at any given point in time. The tables and chairs are also measured and placed such that a 2m distance is maintained between every person.

We have begun temperature checks at select locations and complete roll-out of temperature checks across our entire Indian operations network is expected in the next 10 days.

We have maintained the staggering at the turnstile entry by visual marking. Associates wait for the next person to move to break room, floor, or locker room in the defined marking.

As we learn more from our experience, we continue to explore even more preventative measures to support the health and safety of our employees and associates, who are providing a critical service in our communities. We recently also announced establishing the global Amazon Relief Fund with a $25M initial contribution to support our Delivery Service Partners, Amazon Flex partners and small middle mile partners under financial distress during this challenging time.
