A blessing in disguise during these challenging times is most people are spending more time with their loved ones. But with the whole family at home these days, it can be challenging to keep everyone entertained, especially kids.

That’s where your Fire TV can come to the rescue. There are a ton of great kids and family-friendly apps available on Fire TV and we have compiled a few of them to help your fam explore some new content:

YouTube Kids

The YouTube Kids app is now available on Fire TV with tons of content for your kids. YouTube Kids is a separate app and was designed to provide a safe experience for kids that is more fun for them to explore on their own, and easier for parents and caregivers to guide their journey. Plus, the whole app was designed to meet kids’ needs, like larger buttons for easier interaction and child-friendly graphics throughout to keep them engaged.

Since we know no two families – or kids – are the same, parents will be glad to know that the app provides them with significant control over the content their children have access to:

Create customized profiles for each child in your family and block channels or videos that you don’t want your kids to see.

Chatting with your kids about the parental control will help them understand your oversight of their viewing habits. And, make sure to ask them about the vast universe of content they are exploring. From guided arts and crafts projects to science experiments to dance, yoga and healthy habits for kids, there is A LOT for kids to explore. Learn more here about keeping kids safer on YouTube Kids.

Amazon Prime Video

Prime Video isn’t just the home of shows like Fleabag, Hunters, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the recently released HANNA Season 2. It also has TONS of kids and family-friendly content. They set up content in all different kinds of ways to help decide what to watch, such as show or movie themes (magic, comedy, etc.), and even by whether or not there’s animals in the show or the movie. And bonus – if you’re a Prime Member, all of this content is included in your membership.

In addition, a selection of kids and family content is now available free to watch on Prime Video. This includes Amazon Original kids and family shows, select third party family movies and TV series licensed in cooperation with several of our studio partners, and we continue to explore opportunities to make a wider selection of content available for customers. To access the free kids and family content on Prime Video, families don’t need a Prime membership, just an Amazon account, which is free and can easily be set up on amazon.in.

Plus, there are a number of parental control options if you’re worried about the little ones watching something they shouldn’t. You can set up child profiles, Prime Video Pin (used to bypass Parental Controls), and choose viewing restrictions (rated G, 7, 16, and 18). You can even decide which devices you want to apply the viewing restrictions to.

Here are some title recommendations: Peppa Pig, Scooby Doo: The Zombie Island, Dora: The Lost City of Gold, Inspector Chingum, Kalari Kids, a bunch of Chhota Bheem and Super Bheem movies, and Amazon originals such as The Stinky & Dirty Show, Wishenpoof, Just Add Magic, Kung Fu Panda – The Paws of Destiny, and The Dangerous Book for Boys.
