When it comes to innovation, Alexa has touched the right nodes but this time it is touching the nerve of human emotion and how! We have heard about the various uses of Alexa but this one is the most unique of them all. In this season of spreading joy, Douglas Saldanha, a landscape architect from Worli, Mumbai is spreading Christmas cheer in a grand way. In memory of his late sister Douglas decorated a 67-feet Christmas tree with over 50,000 lights using Amazon Alexa.

Talking about the idea behind this magical tree he was quick to explain, “When my sister passed away in 2005 one of her last wish was to decorate the Christmas tree so beautifully that she wished to see it from heaven.” Holding on to his promise, Saldhana decorated this magical tree that has over 50,000 lights of which 192 smart lights are voice-controlled by Alexa.

The ease of using Alexa

Speaking about how exciting it is to use voice-controlled devices to control lights, Saldhana added, “When a child sends a command to echo dot and says Alexa make the Christmas tree red or green or yellow, the colour of the tree immediately changes. Kids were enthralled that on a mere command to Alexa, they could change the colour of the lights of the Christmas tree. Seeing this smile on the face of kids is priceless”
