Jeff Bezos arrives in India, says '21st century is going to be an Indian century'
Amazon India today announced that its fleet of delivery vehicles in the country will include 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025. This commitment comes after successful pilots across different cities in 2019; learnings from which have helped the company create scalable and long term EV variants to build this large fleet.

On the last day of Jeff's visit, he and Amit Agarwal met a few business leaders and also visited an I Have Space kirana store and a delivery station in Mumbai. Here are their thoughts in their own words.
A moving experience for Jeff
Commitment to India
Our last mile delivery partners
Amazon partners with thousands of kirana stores all over India as delivery points. It’s good for customers, and it helps the shop owners earn additional income. Got to visit one in Mumbai. Power packed meeting
Day 2 of Jeffs visit to India ended on a fun note as he interacted with Shah Rukh Khan and Zoya Akhtar at a Prime Video event. A R Rahman's sufi musical performance added to the magic!

Content is king!
At the fireside chat at the Prime Video event, Jeff Bezos had some good news for content creators in India.
Stage selfie. Check!
When in India, do as the Indians do. Capture the special moments with a selfie. And Smbhav 2020 was the perfect occasion it so seemed. At the end of the fireside chat, Jeff and Amit surprised the audience by asking them to stand for a selfie, much to their delight, of course!
Day one ended with Global Senior Vice President and Country Head Amazon India, Amit Agarwal thanking Jeff Bezos for always being "so inspiring!"
'21st century, an Indian century'
At the inaugural Amazon SMBhav Summit in New Delhi earlier today, Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said, “We’re committed to being a long-term partner of India. And actions speak louder than words,” said Bezos. “Over the next five years, Amazon will invest an incremental US$1 billion to digitize micro and small businesses in cities, towns, and villages across India, helping them reach more customers than ever before. This initiative will use Amazon’s global footprint to create US$10 billion in India exports by 2025. Our hope is that this investment will bring millions more people into the future prosperity of India and at the same time expose the world to the ‘Make in India’ products that represent India’s rich, diverse culture.” Making a prediction for India, he said, "The 21st century is going to be an Indian century. Also, the India-US alliance will be the most important in 21st century."

The Amazon Saheli program is one that empowers women entrepreneurs. Jeff met one such organisation that helps women from rural India to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. He also met an artisan who has helped revive the Pochampally weave.
