Amazon.in today announced the launch of multiple sellers associated with West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (Gramin), Khadi and Village Industries Board (Vindhya Valley from Madhya Pradesh), and West Bengal Handicrafts Development Corporation (MANJUSHA). With a vision to empower and encourage the growth of artisans and weavers its mission to bring all forms of Indian crafts online and expand the selection for customers, the launch of these sellers on Amazon.in will have a significant impact on the lives of more than 40,000 artisans and weavers from Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. At launch, over 500 unique products will be available with additional selection to be added in the coming days.

Great Indian Festival is Bharat’s biggest “sellerbration” on Amazon ever!
Amazon announced today that its Great Indian festival (GIF) has seen the biggest ever opening for its sellers and brand partners on Amazon.in, bringing happiness to millions of customers across all corners of the country. GIF began on midnight of October 16 with Prime Early Access and opened up for all customers on October 17. More shoppers and sellers participated in the opening 48 hours Great Indian Festival than any opening two days before.

5th Fulfilment Centre in West Bengal ahead of the festive season launched
Today, Amazon India announced the launch of a new Fulfilment Centre (FC), the largest in the State of West Bengal with a storage capacity of 1.2 million cubic feet. Amazon India has also tripled the storage capacity of an existing specialized fulfilment centre for large appliances and furniture, to more than 6 lakh cubic feet. This expansion marks a significant increase in Amazon India’s infrastructure in the State, which will now offer a storage capacity of more than 3.4 million cubic feet across 5 fulfilment centres. This expansion will help the 25,000 sellers in West Bengal offer a wider selection and enable faster deliveries of customer orders within the region and neighbouring States ahead of the upcoming festive season.

Amazon India launches its 9th Fulfilment Centre in the National Capital Region
Amazon India today announced the expansion of its fulfilment network in NCR with the launch of a new fulfilment centre spread across 2 lakh square feet in Delhi and expansion of an existing site in Gurgaon. With this expansion, Amazon.in will now offer a total storage capacity of more than 5.5 million cubic feet across 9 fulfilment centre to its close to 1.5 lakh sellers in the National Capital Region. Ahead of the festive season, Amazon India has expanded its fulfilment network across the country to support sellers with the infrastructure needed to offer a delightful shopping experience to customers.
Welcoming the neighborhood shops online this festive season
Rising adoption of e-commerce has not just changed the way India shops, but also how small businesses sell. Local Shops is one such program where popular sellers of an area are no more restricted to just that area alone.
Sakshi Khandelwal, from North West Delhi, had long desired to start something of her own, but it was not until 2017 that she finally managed to launch her own shop in Nangloi, Shiv Electronics. Over the years, customers would drop in to her store for all things gadgets and electronics, including large appliances. To expand her reach and cater to customers beyond her locality, Sakshi recently joined the newly launched ‘Local Shops on Amazon’ programme. Her tryst with e-commerce, she says, has since brought in new customers as well as higher revenues.

Amazon launches its largest specialized Fulfilment Centre in Karnataka
Amazon India today announced the expansion of its fulfilment network in Karnataka with the launch of a new specialized fulfilment centre –the largest in India. With the storage capacity of more than 1.2 million cubic feet, the new fulfilment centre is specialised to store and process customer orders from the large appliances and furniture category. With this infrastructure expansion, Amazon.in will now offer storage capacity of more than 4 million cubic feet across 4 fulfilment centres to its close to 35,000 sellers in Karnataka.

Amazon.in today announced its festive event, ‘Great Indian Festival’ starting from October 17, 2020. Prime members will get early access starting October 16, 2020. This year, lakhs of Small & Medium Businesses (SMBs) will offer unique selection to customers helping them rebuild and accelerate their business in tough times. Customers across the country will have the opportunity to shop for unique products from thousands of Amazon sellers under various programs such as Local Shops, Amazon Launchpad, Amazon Saheli, and Amazon Karigar and enjoy deals/offers extended by lakhs of small businesses.

This festive season, over 100,000 Amazon-enabled local shops, kiranas and neighbourhood stores from across India are geared up to serve customers and celebrate with them, the Company announced today. Amazon India creates more than 100,000 seasonal job opportunities ahead of this festive season
Amazon India today, announced that it has created more than 100,000 seasonal job opportunities ahead of the festive season across its operations network in the country. The new seasonal positions will help elevate its delivery experience and boost the company’s fulfilment and delivery capabilities to meet the surge in customer demand this festive season.
The new associates will join Amazon’s existing robust network of associates and support them to pick, pack, ship and deliver customers’ orders safely and efficiently. The company has also generated tens of thousands of indirect opportunities through its partner networks such as its trucking partners, packaging vendors, ‘I Have Space’ delivery partners, Amazon Flex partners and housekeeping agencies among many others to support the exponential demand during this period.

Mid-range smartphones emerge as customer favourites this festive season, reveals Amazon survey
Amazon.in today revealed the findings of its ‘Great Indian Mobile Survey’. With close to 60,000 respondents from tier 1, tier 2 & 3 cities and towns, the survey provides insights on customer preferences for smartphones this festive season. As per the findings of the Great Indian Mobile survey, 38% of respondents are looking to buy a mid-range smartphone between INR 15,000 – INR 25,000, making it the most desired price point for the festive season.

Amazon recently launched a new sort centre and expanded the capacity of an existing sort centre to ensure faster and reliable deliveries for customer orders in Gujarat.

In a major move to break the language barrier for online shopping and expand eCommerce access to the next 200 – 300 million customers, ahead of the festive season, Amazon is launching amazon.in shopping experience in four new Indian languages – Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. With this launch, Amazon.in customers can now discover great deals & discounts, read detailed product information, manage their account information, place and pay for their orders including bill payments, recharges, money transfers, track their orders and view order history in the language of their preference. Amazon launches its first Fulfilment Centre in Bihar
Ahead of the festive season, Amazon India announced the launch of its first Fulfilment Centre (FC), in Bihar. With more than a lakh cubic feet of storage space, the new fulfilment center will be located in Patna and help better serve customers within the region and neighboring states. The new FC is a specialized for large appliances and furniture and will be instrumental in enabling sellers in Bihar to reach out to customers across the country, further boosting their market presence.

At the outset of India’s biggest festive season, we are happy to expand our operational presence in Bihar which will help boost small and medium businesses and create work opportunities for people in the state. First all-women delivery station in Gujarat
Strengthening its commitment towards increasing participation of women in the workforce, Amazon India today announced the launch of Gujarat’s first all-women delivery station, operated by a delivery service partner, in the town of Kadi. This is one of the several initiatives introduced by the company to create opportunities for women and enable their success in the logistics sector. In 2016, the company had launched the first all-women delivery station in India, with its partner in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

'Ensuring continued customer and seller delight'
In preparation for the festive season, Amazon India has announced the expansion of its sort centre network. The 5 new sort centres will be launched in Vishakhapatnam, Farukhnagar, Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Along with the new centres, Amazon India will also expand 8 existing sort centres to increase overall sortation area to 2.2 million square feet, across 19 states.

By expanding and investing in the Sort Centre network, we are positioned to ensure continued customer and seller delight, ahead of the upcoming festive season.
