Today, Amazon India announced the launch of a new Fulfilment Centre (FC), the largest in the State of West Bengal with a storage capacity of 1.2 million cubic feet. Amazon India has also tripled the storage capacity of an existing specialized fulfilment centre for large appliances and furniture, to more than 6 lakh cubic feet. This expansion marks a significant increase in Amazon India’s infrastructure in the State, which will now offer a storage capacity of more than 3.4 million cubic feet across 5 fulfilment centres. In preparation for the festive season, Amazon India has announced the expansion of its sort centre network. The 5 new sort centres will be launched in Vishakhapatnam, Farukhnagar, Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Along with the new centres, Amazon India will also expand 8 existing sort centres to increase overall sortation area to 2.2 million square feet, across 19 states.
